The live debates in contemporary zakat practice that donors should understand: ʿāmilīna ʿalayhā treatment (can admin be paid from zakat?), muʾallafa qulūbuhum (is the reconciliation-of-hearts share still operative today?), fī sabīlillāh interpretation (restrictive, mainstream, or expansive?), the tamlīk requirement — and, where a project can't put wealth into a recipient's hands (wells, construction, tuition), whether the org restricts zakat to direct-possession disbursements or discloses the ḥīla it uses to satisfy tamlīk — plus lunar-year (hawl) distribution timing and cross-border allocation.
